Join us for “Live From Roper” offerings, which are FREE FOR ALL SCHOOLS. Connect with our science specialist via Zoom multiple times over the course of the year for new lessons changing about every four weeks. Lessons are 30 minutes and are unique, engaging, and based on South Carolina and national standards. We encourage multiple virtual visits!Specifics include:
- 10-15 minute live demonstration by a Roper Mountain Science Center specialist
- Reflection time to ask questions or offer comments about the activity via chat
- Total connection time of 30 minutes

October 25th - Spooky Science
Spiders, snakes, oh my! Join us for a fun Live from Roper special program where we will highlight spooky science. From biology to physical science, we’ll highlight some of the fun science all around us. If you’d like to join in one of our demonstrations please have (2 tb) baking soda, (1/2 cup) vinegar, balloons (orange preferred), disposable water bottle, and rubber bands for each group/teacher. Feel free to draw a face on the balloon before the program.

January 31st - Science of Winter
Come learn all about winter as you join us for our Live from Roper special program. We’ll cover the reason for the seasons, and how plants and animals survive winter. If you’d like to join along in one of the demonstrations please have the students gather sticks or pine needles prior to the program.

Spring is the season of new beginnings. Join us as we discuss some of the science happening around us as nature prepares for spring. If you’d like to participate in one of the demonstration, please ensure students have paper and crayons or colored pencils ready for the program.

May 16th - Signs of Summer
Let’s get ready for the longest hours of daylight as we head into summer. Join us as we examine the signs of summer happening all around us. If you’d like to participate in one of the demonstrations, please have a plant (including roots- like grass) ready before the program.
